Unterried is a district and a wasteland of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) .

The single farm belonged to the main Mariaberg team . When the community was formed in 1818, Unterried was added to the rural community of Sankt Lorenz , but on April 24, 1934, it was separated from and incorporated into the town of Kempten along with some neighboring settlements and was subsequently also part of the Kempten district .

In 1380 a farm in the Ried had a right to drive in the Stadtallmey . There were also various names that characterized the location: Knieboß am Ried (1490), in Undern Ried am Knieboß (1517).

In 1447 a well pipe in the Ried is mentioned, in 1496 one in the Unter Ried .
