Ellharten is a district of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . The place was attached to the rural community of Sankt Lorenz in 1818 and came back to Kempten on January 1, 1934 and October 1, 1934, respectively. There are no population figures for Ellhareten, as the place has risen up in the city of Kempten. The place name goes back to a person's name.
In 1394 there was an estate "ze der Tannen" (on the fir), which was built by the Elhart. In 1451 a monastery fief "ze der Tanun" held by the Elharten was recorded. The place name goes back to a conifer, Ellharten was increasingly used more often.
In 1923 six people lived in the former hamlet.
