Riederau is a district and hamlet of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . It is structurally connected with the parish village of Ursulasried and in 1987 had 193 inhabitants together with this district. The Nordspange , a connecting road, runs past the Riederau .

history

In 1819 Riederau consisted of a single farm with one resident, it belonged to the Leuba's main team and was later not mentioned. Around 1880, a shooting range for the Royal Bavarian 1st Jäger Battalion "König" was built in Riederau . The battalion moved to Riederau because the city park was to be built on the previous training area, the so-called Schwaigwiese . In 1893, the target practice was moved to the Nahwald near Betzigau .

On July 1, 1912, the Zeppelin LZ 11 "Viktoria Luise" landed in Riederau. On August 1, 1954, 110 inhabitants lived in Riederau. In 1972, Riederau was reclassified as part of the rural community of Sankt Mang to Kempten.

Today there is a former ammunition store and an on-site shooting range in Riederau. The construction of a landing pad for the Christoph 17 rescue helicopter in Riederau has been discussed since 2010, and was very controversial in 2012. The location search then started again.
