Location of Johannisried in Kempten (Allgäu)

Johannisried is a wasteland and a district of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) .

history

In 1380 the Hof zem Obern Johansried had the right to drive the Stadtallmey . In 1352 goods and tithes were sold to the St. Leonhard Chapel in Laufenbach, among other things at Hansenried , a donor's fiefdom . The place is mentioned again and again in the following years: in Albis uffem obern Johannesried (1518), in Johansried am Knieboß (1559), Nonsense (1698), Ober- or Johannisried (1780/81), Oberried or Johannesried are also referred to as nonsense (1785), Unsin or Johannesried (1793).

According to Richard Dertsch , the neighboring vineyards Unterried and Oberried will apparently also be the lower Johannisried , today's Johannisried as the upper one - which is understandable due to the height differences. The name indicates a clearing of the Johannes , which already occurs in 1300 often in the Allgäu name treasure.

The single farm belonged to the main Mariaberg team . When the community was formed in 1818, Unterried was added to the rural community of Sankt Lorenz , but on April 24, 1934, it was spun off from Sankt Lorenz along with some neighboring settlements and incorporated into the city of Kempten, and subsequently also became part of the Kempten district . Hermann Kluftinger acquired the property in 1919 . Until 1928 he was the factory director and shareholder of the Kottern spinning and weaving mill in Kottern near Kempten. Until 1955 he was director of the mechanical cotton spinning and weaving mill in Augsburg with interruptions .

In 1987 four people lived in the desert. 2014 only two people.
