Location of Stiftallmey in Kempten (Allgäu)

The Stiftallmey is a district of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . It is located in the west of the city near the city pond .

history

The Allmey was mentioned in 1380 during a comparison regarding the right to graze between the Kempten Monastery ( Kempten Abbey ) and the imperial city of Kempten. In 1451 a monastery fiefdom is mentioned. In 1494 the city made a comparison because of the construction of the city pond on the Allmey with the abbey-kemptic subjects damaged by pasture. Settlement can be documented from 1526. In 1749 the Allmey was divided between the prince monastery of Kempten and the imperial city, which resulted in the monastery and town hall. Since that time, Allmey has often only meant the Stiftallmey and not the urban pastureland.

The Stiftallmey (formerly only Allmey or Allmay ) belonged to the main team Hofammanschaft , whose area came to the rural community of Sankt Lorenz in 1818 when the community was formed.

On October 1, 1934, the Stiftallmey was spun off as a hamlet with four inhabitants from the rural community of Sankt Lorenz and connected to the city of Kempten together with other localities. From the late 1960s, at the latest, there was brisk construction activity. Mainly single-family houses with a low density were built. In May 1987, 1809 inhabitants lived in 659 residential units in this district.
