Batzen is a district and hamlet of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) .

1414 the village was a small estate ze the chunk as stiftkemptisches mentioned fief. 1447 is called zum Batzen or zum Batzer . From 1451 mentions as Batzen followed . 1555/93 is called Batzo . It is a place name based on a person's name.

The place was attached to the rural community of Sankt Lorenz in 1818 and was subject to the parish Heiligkreuz . On July 1, 1972, Sankt Lorenz was incorporated into the city of Kempten (Allgäu).
