Napoleon Joseph Perché

Napoleon Joseph Perché (born January 10, 1805 in Angers , France , † December 27, 1883 in New Orleans , USA ) was Archbishop of New Orleans .

Life

Napoleon Joseph Perché received on September 19, 1829 sacrament of Holy Orders . He then worked as a pastor in the diocese of Angers . In 1837 Napoleon Joseph Perché came to the USA. Until 1842 he worked in the diocese of Bardstown .

On February 8, 1870, Pope Pius IX appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Abdera and ordered him to Koadjutorerzbischof of New Orleans. The Bishop of Columbus , Sylvester Horton Rosecrans , donated him episcopal ordination on May 1 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Nashville , Patrick Augustine Feehan , and the Coadjutor Bishop of Chicago , Thomas Patrick Roger Foley .

On May 25, 1870 Napoleon Joseph Perché succeeded the late Jean Marie Odin CM Archbishop of New Orleans.
