Coleman Francis Carroll (born February 9, 1905 in Pittsburgh , USA , † July 26, 1977 in Miami ) was Archbishop of Miami .

Life

Coleman Francis Carroll studied Catholic theology at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe , Pennsylvania . He received on 15 June 1930, the sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1944 Carroll received his doctorate in canon law from the Catholic University of America .

On August 25, 1953, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Pitanae and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Pittsburgh . The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani , ordained him episcopal on November 10 of the same year at Saint Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Pittsburgh, John Francis Dearden , and the Bishop of Columbus , Michael Joseph Ready .

On August 13, 1958, Pius XII appointed him. to the Bishop of Miami. The inauguration took place on October 7th of the same year. On March 2, 1968, Coleman Francis Carroll became Archbishop of Miami.
