Francis Janssens
Francis August Anthony Joseph Janssens (born October 17, 1843 in Tilburg , North Brabant Province , Netherlands ; † June 10, 1897 ) was Archbishop of New Orleans .
Life
Francis August Anthony Joseph Janssens received on 21 December 1867, the sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1870 Janssens became Vicar General of Richmond.
On February 18, 1881 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Natchez . The Archbishop of Baltimore , James Gibbons , ordained him episcopal on May 1 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Wilmington , Thomas Andrew Becker , and the Bishop of Richmond , John Joseph Keane .
On August 7, 1888 Leo XIII appointed him. to the Archbishop of New Orleans. The inauguration took place on September 16 of the same year.
