History and construction

The M-7 was a two-seat trainer aircraft used by the Brazilian Air Force before World War II . It was designed under the direction of the Brazilian Air Force Officer Antonio Guedes Muniz and was the first aircraft ever to be mass-produced in Brazil . The guyed biplane had an open cockpit in tandem and a tail wheel landing gear. The fuselage and the wings were covered with fabric. The first flight took place in October 1935. The aircraft was manufactured by the specially founded Companhia Nacional de Navegação Aérea . Eleven aircraft were delivered to the Brazilian Air Force, the rest to Brazilian aviation clubs. Some aircraft remained in service with the Luftwaffe until 1960 and with the flying clubs until 1967.
