from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Murad Ali Murad is a general in the Afghan National Army (ANA). From 2007 to September 2010 he was the commander of the ANA's 209th Corps. This corps operates in northern Afghanistan, where the German Bundeswehr's contingents are deployed as part of the ISAF mission, and cooperates with them in the fight against the Taliban . However, in February 2010 he was not satisfied with the involvement of the Bundeswehr units near Kunduz . He told an Afghan private broadcaster that the Germans avoided direct confrontation with the Taliban, and that this had led to increased casualties among his soldiers. The Germans should withdraw from the region and be replaced by Americans.

Since September 2010 he has been the commander of the ANA ground forces with the rank of lieutenant general.
