Murano Shirō

Murano Shirō ( Japanese 村野 四郎 ; born October 7, 1901 in Tokyo Prefecture ; † March 2, 1975 ) was a Japanese poet and literary critic .

Murano studied economics at Keiō University and then worked for a research company. He initially emerged with haiku poems, but later, under the influence of German modern poetry, in particular, he turned to free forms. He made his debut in 1926 with the anthology Wana ( ). The volume of poetry Taisō shishū (1939; 体操 詩集 ) also attracted attention through the use of photographs. For Bōyōki (1959; 亡 羊 記 ) he received the Yomiuri Literature Prize .
