Murat Ses (* 1946 in Bayraklı , Izmir ) is a Turkish musician.

Career

Ses co-founded the group Moğollar , whose keyboardist he was from 1967 to 1972. Most of the material on the long-playing record Danses et Rythmes de la Turquie d'hier à aujourd'hui (dances and rhythms of Turkey yesterday and today), which was published in France in 1971 and won the Grand Prix du Disque , comes from him (compositions such as Legend of Mount Ararat / Ağrı Dağı Efsanesi ). Murat Ses is the namesake of Anadolu Rock / Pop and he is known for his Hammond solos, which are a combination of Turkish folk music (Davul-Zurna, Halay) with rock and blues. He later played a major role in the sounds and styles of Baris Manço (Gönül Dagi, Binboga'nin Kizi, Iste Hendek Iste Deve) and Edip Akbayram (Garip) in the seventies. At the end of the 70s he went to Austria and to date he has released twelve solo albums. He calls his new style, developed from Anadolu Pop, “Electric Levantine”, which is based on microtonal Turkish music and Western music with electronic support.
