Anadolu Rock is a name for Turkish rock music .

development

The Turkish rock scene began in the mid-1960s when popular music groups from the United States and the United Kingdom became well known in Turkey as well. Very soon artists like Moğollar achieved an unmistakable amalgamation of rock and folk music. Moğollar recorded the legendary LP Anadolu Pop (title of the Turkish edition) in Paris in 1971 , which was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque of the Charles Cross Academy .

Most of the material on this album (original name: Les Danses et Rythmes de la Turquie d'hier à aujourd'hui) comes from Murat Ses (compositions such as Legend of Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı Efsanesi)).

After the album was released, the generic term was initially Anadolu Pop and later Anadolu Rock . Anadolu Rock describes most forms of Turkish rock music and fusions of this kind in general to this day.

From 1966 to 1975 psychedelic rock and then progressive rock was very popular in Turkey. The best-known artists of these genres are Barış Manço , Cem Karaca , Erkin Koray , Fikret Kızılok and Moğollar, at that time still with Murat Ses . Özgün Müzik , created in the 1980s, has a socio-political focus .
