Derdiyoklar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Derdiyoklar , also called Derdi Yoklar or Grup Derdiyoklar ikilisi , is a Turkish folk group that has existed since 1979, which became known for accompanying its polyphonic Deyiş and ironic songs with electro-saz and drums . It is often mentioned as an important group of early migrant subcultures in Germany and in this context, for example, also played in a radio show by John Zorn .

Career

The duo, which consisted of the founders Ali Ekber Aydoğan (Elektrosaz - guitar and vocals) and İhsan Güvercin (Davul and vocals) until 1986, was also known in Turkey, but has lived in Germany since its inception and had the greatest sales successes in the 1980s German-Turkish record and cassette market. Aydoğan and Göğercin appeared several times in Turkish-language entertainment programs. They became famous in particular through songs against xenophobia in Germany with titles such as Liebe Gabi or Hop Hop Dazlaklar, as well as through their ironic self-staging during live performances. Her style was an unusual mixture of disco, folk, herb rock, psychedelia and Turkish tradition. To date, Derdiyoklar has released well over a dozen albums (most recently with a different line-up). After Güvercin left, Aydoğan continued as Derdiyok Ali together with the new drummer Mehmet Taniş. Güvercin meanwhile played in the group Güvercinler Ikilisi as a drummer and began a collaboration with his nephew Yusuf Güvercin, from which only one album emerged. In 1994 their musical paths parted and Yusuf Güvercin continued the path with Güvercin's son Zekai Güvercin. Mehmet Tanis separated from Aydogan at the end of 1999 and now lives in Karlsdorf (Baden-Württemberg). He continues to play as a drummer.

The duo influenced many Turkish young people in Germany in the 1980s and encouraged them to make music. Many have tried and are still trying to copy them through naming, appearance or the songs composed by Derdiyoklar.

Aydoğan lives in Nuremberg, Güvercin now in Antalya. After the separation, the two musicians appeared spontaneously on stage together for the last time on January 11, 2001 in Erlensee near Hanau, after Arif Sağ , Musa Eroğlu , Emekci and many other people who were currently there encouraged them to come together again . After a few unsuccessful attempts, the two separated again. October 2008 Aydogan and Mehmet Tanis performed together as a duo in "Babylon" (Istanbul).
