Mandet Museum

The Museum Mandet (French: Musée Mandet or Musée Francisque Mandet ) is a museum for fine arts and applied arts in two stately private buildings in the center of the small French town of Riom in the Puy-de-Dôme department , Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes .

Most of the two buildings date from the 18th century and were connected by a gallery. The works exhibited in the first building were brought together almost exclusively in the 19th century. The first building has been owned by the city of Riom since 1865. The second building was built during the 15th, 17th and 18th centuries. Since its restoration in 1983, a. a. presented the collection donated by the Richard couple from Riom.

Foundation of the museum

Francisque Mandet, Judge of Appeal for the city of Riom, suggested the establishment of the museum, inaugurated in 1866, in the first building.
