The Musashi University ( Jap. 武蔵大学 , Musashi daigaku ) is a private university in Japan . It is located in Nerima , Tokyo.
history
The university was founded in 1922 by the entrepreneur Kaichirō Nezu ( 根 津 嘉一郎 , 1860-1940; see Nezu Museum ) as a Musashi High School ( 武 蔵 高等学校 , Musashi kōtō gakkō ). It was the first private 7-year high school (ages 12-19) in Japan and served the wealthy Tokyo sons as a preparatory course for the Imperial Universities .
After the Pacific War , the high school was reorganized according to the new Japanese education system. It became the (new) Musashi High School (1948; 3 year old school), Musashi Middle School (1949; 3 year old) and Musashi University (1949; 4 year old). The three schools are supported by the Nezu Foundation ( 学校 法人 根 津 育 英 会 ).
Faculties
The university was opened with a faculty (economics). She added the faculties: Humanities (1969) and Social Sciences (1998).
