In 2018 he was re-elected for a second term of office against three candidates with LDP-DFP-Kōmeitō support. The voter turnout reached a new record low of 31.4%. In the uniform regional elections in April 2019 , the 50 members of the district parliament (Nerima-kugikai) were elected.
The district is a six-mandate constituency for the Tokyo Prefectural Parliament. In the election in July 2017 , two seats went to Governor Yuriko Koikes Tomin First no Kai , one each to Kōmeitō , LDP , KPJ and DFP .
In elections to the national lower house, Nerima extends into two constituencies: the larger western part forms the 9th constituency of the prefecture , a small part in the east belongs together with parts of Toshima , Nakano and Shinjuku to the 10th constituency.
