The Yūrakuchō Line ( Japanese 有 楽 町 線 , Yūrakuchō-sen ) is one of the nine subway lines of the Tōkyō Metro , one of Tokyo's two subway companies .
28.3 kilometers long route runs from the north-west of Tokyo in the east and below the Sumida along. It begins at Wakoshi Station in Saitama Prefecture and ends in Shin-Kiba . The color of the route map is yellow , the line has the identification letter Y , followed by the number of the individual stations. The Yūrakuchō Line is also known as Line 8. The line is named after the Tokyo district of Yūrakuchō ( Yūrakuchō Y-18 station) near the Ginza .
history
On October 30, 1974, the first part of the Yūrakuchō line from Wakōshi to Ginza-itchome was opened. On March 27, 1980, the extension to Shintomicho near the Ginza followed . Finally, the line was finally expanded to Shin-kiba on June 8, 1988.
Route division
For several years, the Yūrakuchō line has shared some sections of the route with the Tōbu Tōjō main line , with the Seibu Ikebukuro line and the Fukutoshin line .
On June 14, 2008, a so-called Semi-Express ( 準 急 , junkyū ) opened on the route , which runs twice an hour on the route from Wakōshi to Shin-kiba and only once between the start of the route and Ikebukuro station , namely in Kotake-mukaihara (Y-06), holds. From Ikebukuro station to Shin-kiba, the Semi-Express stops at all of the following stations.
expansion
A new branch line is planned on the Yūrakuchō Line. From Toyosu Station (Y-22), a new line is to lead north via Kameari to Noda in Chiba Prefecture .
Rail vehicles
On the Yūrakuchō line mainly vehicles of the 7000 series (1974) and 10000 series (2006) with 10 wagons each run .

Depots and maintenance stations are the Wakō Depot (和 光 検 車 区), the Shin-Kiba Depot (新 木 場 検 車 区) and the Shin-Kiba Car Renewal (新 木 場 CR).
