The Yūrakuchō Station ( Jap. 有楽町駅 , Yūrakuchō-eki ) is located in Chiyoda in Tokyo , Japan . On the web spiders of the Tōkyō Metro , the station is designated Y-18 for the Yūrakuchō line .

history

The station was opened on June 25, 1910 for the newly built Keihin-Tōhoku line and the last section of the Yamanote line . An air raid during the Pacific War on January 27, 1945 killed nine railway employees and 87 passengers. On October 30, 1974, the subway station of the Yūrakuchō line opened.

Type of construction and tracks

The stations of the JR East and the Tōkyō Metro are built as through stations in the most common design of a train station .

JR East platforms

The JR station has a total of four platform tracks which approach two central platforms. The approaching lines approach the platforms according to their direction of travel and not according to their line affiliation. The tracks at the station run in a north-south direction.

Platforms Tōkyō Metro

The Tōkyō Metro station connects directly to the west with the JR station. It has two platform tracks in an east-west direction which serve a single central platform. The station is connected to Hibiya Station on the Chiyoda Line (C-09) , Hibiya Line (H-07) and Mita Line (I-08) via underground walkways .

Surroundings

The Tokyo International Forum joins directly to the west of the JR East and north of the Tōkyō Metro tracks. The Tōhō studios , the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater ( 東京 宝 塚 劇場 , Tōkyō Takarazuka Gekijō ), the Hibiya Park , the government district of Kasumigaseki and the Imperial Palace are also close to the train station .

In 2014, the JR station was used by an average of 165,450 passengers per day, making it 14th of over 900 on the ranking of the most frequently used stations of the JR East in 2014. The station of the Tōkyō Metro was used by an average of 160,065 passengers a day in 2014, making it 16th of the most used stations on the Tōkyō Metro.
