The Chiyoda Line ( Japanese 千代 田 線 , Chiyoda-sen ) is a metro line in Tokyo , Japan which is managed by the Tokyo Metro . It appears in dark green on cards . The stops on the Chiyoda Line are marked with the letter C followed by a number. In planning, the line has the number 9.
The 21.9 km long route serves the districts (ku) Adachi , Arakawa , Bunkyō , Chiyoda , Minato and Shibuya . (A short tunnel section without a train station also leads through the Taitō district .) A feeder train runs between Ayase and Kita-ayase; this section is a further 2.1 km.
The first section of the route was opened on December 20, 1969 between Kita-Senjū and Ōtemachi. On October 10, 1972, the line with the connection to Yoyogi-Kōen was almost completed. A 1 km section between this station and Yoyogi-Uehara was not completed until March 31, 1978 . The branch line to Kita-ayase was opened on December 20, 1979.
Trains on the Chiyoda Line alternate with the JR Jōban Line from Ayase Station and together with the Odakyū Odawara Line from Yoyogi-Uehara. The JR express trains come from the series 203 railcars and are specially designed for the Chiyoda line.
Since May 15, 2006 , special wagons only for women have been used in the early morning hours between Toride on the Jōban line and Yoyogi-Uehara .
