The Hibiya Line ( Japanese 日 比 谷 線 , Hibiya-sen ) is a subway line in Tokyo , Japan , which is managed by the Tōkyō Metro . It appears in gray on cards BSicon TokyoHibiya.svg; the 22 stations are marked with the letter H followed by a number. The line is numbered 2 in plans.

The trains of the Hibiya line run together with the Tobu - Isesaki line from Kita-Senju . Continuous traffic with the Tōyoko line operated by Tōkyū Dentetsu from Naka-Meguro was ended in March 2013 in favor of the Fukutoshin line that operates there today . Nevertheless, you can still change trains on the Tōyoko Line at the same platform.

history

The line was planned, together with other underground lines, as early as 1925. The metro plans were part of the reconstruction program after the severe earthquake of 1923 , but were no longer implemented before the war .

After the war, the plans were revised and construction began in 1957. Due to the difficult construction work at the Ginza transfer station , the line was put into operation in sections from 1961, but was completed in time for the Olympic Games in August 1964.

On June 6, 2020, for the first time in 56 years, a new station - Toranomon Hills - went into operation on the route . This means that the new Toranomon Hills district has a direct subway connection.
