The Ginza Station ( Japanese 銀座 駅 , Ginza-eki ) is a subway station of the Tokyo Metro in the Ginza business district in the Chūō district of Tokyo .

All trains run from the station's six island platforms, which each serve two tracks.

In 2007, an average of 274,842 travelers used this station every day. This puts the station in fourth place in the list of the busiest stations on the Tokyo Metro after Ikebukuro , Kita-senju and Ōtemachi .
history
Ginza station was opened in March 1934 as part of the extension of the current Ginza line of the Tokyo subway from Asakusa station. The Marunouchi Line began operations in 1957 and the Hibiya Line in February 1963.
The platforms of the Hibiya Line, which runs in an east-west direction, are located between those of the two north-south routes, the Ginza Line and the Marunouchi Line, and were built before the Second World War as part of a planned TUR route Shinjuku .
