Clemens Stroetmann

Clemens Johannes Stroetmann (born May 10, 1946 in Hildesheim ) is a German lawyer . From 1987 to 1995 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety . He is the managing director of the “Initiative Mehrweg” foundation.

Life

Stroetmann studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1975 he was admitted to the bar. In 1976 he entered the civil service as a civil servant. From 1985 to 1987 he was Vice President of the Federal Health Office in Berlin. In 1987 he became permanent state secretary in the newly created Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety under Minister Klaus Töpfer and Angela Merkel . He was the first President of the Executive Committee of the European Environment Agency in Copenhagen and President of the EECONET Action Fund (EAF) .

Merkel dismissed Stroetmann as State Secretary in 1995 because of irreconcilable differences. After leaving office, he was spokesman for the management of ARCADIS Grebner Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH in Mainz from 1995 to 1999. In 1995 he applied for his re-admission as a lawyer and is also managing director of the Mehrweg Initiative, managing partner of C HOCH 4 GmbH and chairman of the Pro Windkraft initiative.

Stroetmann stood in 2001 as a candidate of the CDU for the mayoral election in the state capital Hanover. Under pressure from the CDU, he gave up his candidacy shortly before the election.

Stroetmann has been a member of the Lazarus Order since January 1, 2012 after being appointed by the 49th Grand Master of the Bailli and Order Chancellor. He is head of the German Lazarus Foundation and is a member of the board of trustees of the German Dentists Foundation and the German Otter Foundation . He is a participant in the Ecological Turnaround discussion group of the Bergedorf Round Table .

Clemens Stroetmann has been a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. since 1968 . Sugambria (Jena) Göttingen in the CV .
