The Aid Organization of German Dentists for Leprosy and Emergency Areas (CH Bartels Fund) was founded on May 18, 1987 by the Göttingen dentist Carl Heinz Bartels . The foundation emerged from the initiative sponsorship of Lower Saxony dentists for leprosy areas launched by CH Bartels in 1981 . The trigger for the sponsorship and the later foundation were the shocking experiences of the Göttingen dentist in the leprosy regions of Southeast Asia .

Areas of activity

The HDZ works where state aid measures do not take effect and where the large aid organizations are not represented. The aid measures start selectively but comprehensively. In particular with:

For this purpose, hospital wards were and are being built and fully equipped. The focus is always on helping people to help themselves, for example with:

  • School and vocational training for young people
  • Establishment of workplaces
  • Instruction of doctors and dentists as well as auxiliary staff on the supplied equipment
  • Supply of medicines

The HDZ is continuously in use in Asia , Africa , the European countries but also in Germany. In 2014 alone, more than 50 projects with a volume of almost 800,000 euros were initiated or completed. Projects are not carried out alone, but also together with partners, such as B. Don Bosco Mundo , the Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the German embassies in Albania , Cambodia , Mongolia and Uzbekistan and others. From its foundation up to and including 2012, the HDZ has collected aid goods and monetary donations worth over 30 million euros and used them for charitable work in over 1,000 projects in more than 60 countries. The foundation uses more than 90% of the donations for aid.

Board of Trustees

The sole foundation body is the board of trustees . The chairman and his deputy are elected from the members of the board of trustees. The head of the foundation manages the day-to-day business of the foundation.
