history

The Tokyo Metro's Asakusa station, which is in existence today, is one of the first underground stations in Japan, which opened in 1927. It formed the eastern end of the underground route of the Tokyo Underground Railway to Ueno . This route was later extended under the name Ginza Line .

The terminus of the Tobu Railway Company opened as Asakusa Kaminarimon Station in 1931 and renamed Asakusa Station in 1945 . The part of the station which is allocated to the Tokyo (Toei) prefecture traffic department was opened in 1960 as part of the Asakusa line to Oshiage .

Areas of the train station

Area of the Tobu Railway Company

The area of the Tobu Railway is on the ground floor and occupies part of the Matsuya department store . It is mainly served by local express trains and local traffic. Although Asakusa is the most centrally located station on the Isesaki line, there is a very winding connection to the next larger station, Kita-Senju . Right at the end of the station area, the route swings to the right at an almost right angle to cross the Sumida River. The trains can travel at a maximum speed of 15 km / h there. Partly because of this difficult route, express trains and a few other accelerated trains on the Isesaki line are run via Kita-Senju station to the Hanzomon line and Hibiya line of the Tokyo Metro .

The Tobu Railway uses five tracks on three platforms, all express trains run on only one of these platforms.

Tokyo Metro

The Tokyo Metro's two platforms are in the lowlands south of those of the Tobu Railway. The Ginza Line trains run to Shibuya via Ueno, Ginza and Akasaka-mitsuke . For travelers there is a connecting corridor to the platforms of the Tobu Railway and those of the Toei.

Tokyo Prefecture Transportation Office

The Toei's two platforms are also located in the lowlands and are south of those of the Tokyo Metro. On the first platform, the Asakusa Line trains run from Mita via Nishi-magome , Keikyu Main Line and Shinagawa to Haneda Airport Station . On the other, only the airport express of this line is processed from Oshiage station via the Keisei main line to Narita airport station . Access to the platforms of the Tobu Railway is within the station building only in the Tokyo Metro area, otherwise travelers have to pass the street.
