Aya Ueto
Aya Ueto ( Japanese 上 戸 彩 , Ueto Aya ; born September 14, 1985 in Nerima , Tokyo , Japan ) is a Japanese idol . She works as a musician , actress , voice actress and model .
biography
Her mother encouraged her to audition on television. In August 1997 she took part in the seventh beauty contest Zen-Nihon Kokuminteki Bishōjo Contest ( 全 日本 国民 的 美 少女 コ ン テ ス ト ) and received the special prize of the jury. This was followed by some appearances in commercials.
In 1999 she formed the J-Pop band Z-1 with Mami Neijki, Mai Fujiya and Manami Nishiwaki. The band broke up after releasing just five singles. Two years later, she got a recording deal with Pony Canyon and began a solo career. Her first solo single Pureness was released in August 2002 and was an instant hit. The song made it to number four on the Oricon single charts, Ueto's first album AYAUETO , released in March 2003, made it to number five on the album charts. Since then she has released several more singles and albums.
She had one of her first roles as an actress in 2000 with the fourteen-year-old Momo Fuchigami in the television drama Namida o fuite , in which Yōsuke Eguchi played the leading role. Further television dramas established a high level of awareness for Ueto. For example, in the film adaptation of the manga series Ace o Nerae as a television series, she took on the lead role of tennis player Hiromi Oka in 2004 . She also wrote the theme song for the series, Ai no tame ni. , which reached number six on the Oricon single charts and trumped their most successful single Pureness with sales of over 99,000. One month after Ai no tame ni was released. this was followed by the corresponding album MESSAGE , which also made it to sixth place on the Oricon charts. The double-single release with the two titles Kaze and Okoru kotoba placed eighth in the charts.
In the television adaptation of another sports manga, Attack No. 1 , she starred in the title role from April to June 2005. The ending song for the eleven-part volleyball series was Ueto's single Yume no Chikara , which reached number seven on the Oricon charts and sold over 85,000 times.
In 2004 Ueto advertised ten different companies and received 45 million yen for various commercials that year . In 2003 it was only 30 million yen.
In Ryūhei Kitamura's 2003 film Azumi , the adaptation of a manga series by Yū Koyama , she played the protagonist, who was raised with nine other orphans and works as a swordsman in a historic Japan. For this performance, she was awarded the Japanese Academy Awards in the categories of Best Young Actor and Most Popular Actor . She was also nominated for Best Actress , but had to admit defeat to Shinobu Terajima ( Akame shijuya taki shinju misui ). In 2005 the sequel Azumi 2 - Death or Love came to Japanese cinemas, again starring Ueto. In 2004 she starred as Asako Nozawa , the protagonist, in Kei Kataoka's film Install , which is based on an award-winning bestselling novel by Risa Wataya .
