Muschampia leuzeae is a butterfly from the family of the thick-headed butterflies (Hesperiidae).

features

The fore wing length is 15 millimeters. The dark gray upper surface is very similar to that of Muschampia proto . There is a very large and rectangular discal spot on the forewings . Few bright spots can be seen on the hind wings. The underside is basically light gray and brownish doused with white spots on the forewings. On the hind wings there is a regular and complete, but narrow discal band as well as indistinct bright submarginal spots.

Geographical occurrence and habitat

Muschampia leuzeae is native to Algeria and can be found in dry, flower-rich areas. The species occurs from 1200 to 2000 m above sea level.

Way of life

The moths fly in one generation from May to July. The caterpillars feed on fire herbs ( phlomis ).
