description
The mushrif was an administrative officer in various Islamic states. This office existed primarily under the Abbassid caliphate , but was also used in its successor states such as the Ghaznavids , Seljuks , Ayyubids and Mameluks . But it was also to be found in the Maghreb and even on the Indian subcontinent in the Sultanate of Delhi . The dual function of the office was not handled in the same way everywhere. On the Muslim Menorca the mushrif was a tax collector such as B. Abu Uthman Said ibn Hakam al-Quraschi , the later Almohad Raʾīs of Menorca.
