The musculus chondroglossus ("cartilage-tongue-muscle") is a small, in humans about 2 cm long striated muscle of the head. It arises from the small horn of the hyoid bone and radiates into the tongue , where the muscle fibers interweave with those of the tongue's own muscles . The chondroglossus muscle is considered by some authors to be part of the hyoglossus muscle , but is separated from it by the genioglossus muscle .
