Rectococcygeus muscle

The rectococcygeus muscle ("rectum-tailbone muscle") is a smooth muscle in the pelvic area. It is a thin muscle plate that radiates from the second and third coccyx vertebra into the longitudinal muscle layer ( stratum logitudinale ) of the rectum . Comparatively anatomically, it belongs to the tail muscles in the broader sense.
