Serdar Gürler (in France also Serdar Gurler ; born September 14, 1991 in Haguenau in Alsace , France ) is a Franco- Turkish football player . He has French and Turkish citizenship.
Family and birth
Gürler's parents come from Turkey . They emigrated to France before he was born and settled in the area of the small Alsatian town of Haguenau .
Career
youth
Serdar Gürler led the youth team of FC Sochaux as team captain in the final of the Coupe Gambardella , which they lost on penalties to the youth of FC Metz .

Gürler made his professional debut on April 10, 2010 in the game against AS Saint-Étienne in Ligue 1 ; he was substituted on in the 79th minute of the game. This mission should also be his only mission in the 2009/10 season. In the following season he came to no use in Ligue 1, while he was used in the League Cup . In 2011/12 Gürler made his second appearance in Ligue 1; again against AS Saint-Étienne. It was also his last game in Ligue 1 for the time being.

After his club missed relegation in the summer of 2014 and had to relegate to the TFF 1st Lig , Gürler moved to Trabzonspor together with his teammate Deniz Yılmaz . The Northern Turks paid Gürler a transfer fee of € 1.3 million to Elazigspor.
For the second half of the 2014/15 season he was loaned to the first division club Kayseri Erciyesspor . In the spring of 2016, the first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara signed him . With this club he established himself as a regular player and top performer. He made his career breakthrough in the 2016/17 season in particular. This season he was one of the most successful goalscorers of the season with 13 goals this season and became a Turkish national team player. Gürler moved to city and league rivals Osmanlıspor FK and received a three-year contract from this.
After the Süper Lig 2017/18 Osmanlispor had to relegate to the TFF 1. Lig , with which Gürler left Osmanlispor and switched to the Spanish first division club SD Huesca . He stayed with the Spaniards for only half a season and was then loaned to Goztepe Izmir for a period of one and a half seasons .
National team

After moving to SD Huesca, Güler received criticism from some Turkish fans for an away jersey with a large red crucifix . He was criticized for how a Muslim could wear such a jersey. Güler denied these allegations and stated on his Instagram account that he has respect for every religion and that he is also glad that his religion is respected in Spain. Wearing a jersey with a crucifix would not automatically make him a blasphemist . He is still a devout Muslim.
