Cameron Zishan Jerome (born August 14, 1986 in Huddersfield ) is an English football player . The striker is currently under contract with Göztepe Izmir and played a total of ten games for England's U-21s between 2005 and 2007 .

Athletic career

Jerome began his career in his hometown with the Westend Juniors before moving to Huddersfield Town as a teenager . He also worked in Grimsby Town and Sheffield Wednesday before joining Middlesbrough FC for a short time in 2003 . The young striker did not gain his first professional experience until October 2004 at the Welsh capital club Cardiff City in the English Football League Championship . The move came on the recommendation of Paul Wilkinson , who had worked with Jerome on the Grimsby Town reserve team.

After seven goals in 32 games in the 2004/05 season, he was in the subsequent 2005/06 season with 20 goals the "top scorer" of Cardiff City. Jerome also played in England's U-21 national team from 2005 and after two years in Wales he was hired by the more ambitious Birmingham City , with a transfer fee of three million pounds - plus a further million if successful.

The Blues debut was memorable when Jerome was sent off for an elbow check on August 5, 2006, five minutes after his substitution at Colchester United . The first hit followed on September 12, 2006 at the Queens Park Rangers on Loftus Road . In a steady up-and-down he succeeded with his new club directly to promotion to the Premier League, had to return to the second division the following year, before he managed a second time qualification for the English top division in 2009. Often he was the only striker and also showed a high willingness to run when moving backwards; alternatively, he often acted as a right winger. In July 2009 he signed a new five-year contract in Birmingham.

In late August 2011 he moved to Stoke City and signed a four-year contract there. Jerome has been playing for Norwich City since August 2014. After a total of three and a half years at the club, Jerome moved to league rivals Derby County for 1.7 million euros in January 2018 .

In the summer of 2018, Jerome moved to the Süper Lig at Göztepe Izmir .
