Santa Victoria or Santa Victoria Oeste (to distinguish it from Santa Victoria Este in the Rivadavia department) is the capital of the Santa Victoria department of the same name in the province of Salta in northwestern Argentina . It is located on the Santa Victoria River at an altitude of 2350 meters. In the classification of the municipalities of the province, it belongs to the municipalities of the 2nd category.
Santa Victoria can be reached via Yavi in the Jujuy Province via a winding road. It is 105 kilometers to Yavi and 118 kilometers to the border town to neighboring Bolivia, La Quiaca .

history
At the end of the 18th century, the area where Santa Victoria is located was gradually settled by farmers of Spanish descent. During the Chaco War , many Bolivian soldiers fled to the Santa Victoria area.
On February 18, 1975, the city of Santa Victoria was designated a National Historic Site by Decree 370 of the nation's executive power .
