description
The museum has a collection of over 10,000 artifacts from the island's earliest historical age.
The 580 m² permanent exhibition with artefacts from Aruba's Indian history contains evidence from the island's earliest age. Exhibits include ceramic pots and stone tools from the Sero Muskita , Arikok, and Arawak tribes , as well as weapons and religious offerings unearthed at 22 sites in Aruba. The oldest classified finds come from the pre-ceramic period around 2500 BC. AD 1000 to AD 1000. The oldest archaeological site in Aruba is probably that of Sero Muskita, where stone tools have been found. A similar tool was found during an excavation in Arikok. Based on the processing, technology and shape of the tools found, it is assumed that as early as 4000/4500 BC BC people lived in Aruba.
