The Museo Nacional de Arte ( Spanish ; MUNAL for short ) is a national museum of art founded in 1982 in the historic center of Mexico City , supported by the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes .

The first technical director of the museum was the artist Helen Escobedo .

collection

The MUNAL's collection comprises over 3,000 works and primarily provides an insight into the country's art history from the 16th century to the first half of the 20th century, but also into contemporary Mexican art. For this purpose, the museum has an exhibition area of ​​around 5,000 m².
