The Museo Storico dei Bersaglieri is located in Rome within the Porta Pia city gate built by Michelangelo in the Castro Pretorio district . It contains a collection of souvenirs, documentation and reports on the combat operations of the Bersaglieri , including weapons, uniforms and pictures, as well as some medals, some of which are collector's items.
The museum was inaugurated on June 18, 1904 and moved to its present location in 1932.
Through the so-called Breccia di Porta Pia card , a breach that was shot 100 meters north in the city wall, Bersaglieri penetrated Rome on September 20, 1870 and thus definitively eliminated the Papal States. Rome soon became Italy's capital.
