Museo Torres García

The Museo Torres García is a museum in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo . It is directed by Alejandro Díaz and is visited by 85,000 people a year.

The museum, named after the famous Uruguayan painter Joaquín Torres García , is located in the Ciudad Vieja district ( barrio ) , the old town of Montevideo. There it is on Calle Sarandí .

It was founded in 1988 by the Fundacion Torres Garcia . It exhibits the works of this artist, who mainly created abstract and cubist pictures, but also portraits of Beethoven and Mozart, for example.
