The Museo del Mar is a public fisheries and maritime museum in the Spanish coastal town of Santa Pola on the Costa Blanca . Santa Pola is one of the most important fishing ports on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.

The museum is located in the fortress Castillo-Fortaleza de Santa Pola, built in 1557, near the fishing port. The museum building on the Plaza de Armas was listed as a historical monument in 1993 and entered on the Bien de Interés Cultural list.

The eight-room exhibition focuses on people's lives with a focus on navigation, mapping, maritime traditions, wooden boat building, port history, the role of the church in shipping, trade and everyday things in fishing. The fishing history of Santa Pola, the prehistoric prehistory, the time of the Iberians, ceramic containers Portus Illicitanus, fortifications on the coast, fishing techniques and the importance of the Salinas in fish production are presented in six main topics . Salt is still extracted in the seawater salt pans around Santa Pola.

The extensive library, which specializes in topics from ancient history, archeology, ethnography and navigation, offers additional services. In the museum complex there is a center for restoration, care advice on archeology and monument preservation of historical wooden ships with its own laboratory.
