The Herxheim Museum is located in Herxheim near Landau / Pfalz in a half-timbered house from the 18th century. Its focus is on the oldest section of the Neolithic and regional cultural history. Regular special exhibitions, the series The Special Object , a small museum garden and a wide range of educational museum offers for groups of all ages, including by the experimental archaeologist Anne Reichert , complete the offer.

Stone Age Department

The Stone Age section shows many of the finds from the Herxheim linear ceramic site, which is unique in Europe . The ceramics, flint stones and, above all, the bone finds with a strikingly large number of skulls from the Herxheim mine from around 5300 to 4950 BC. BC document the Herxheim death ritual, in which the dead were cut up.

Department of Cultural History

From the local and regional history, special exhibits such as looms, tools for cigar production, house doors, roof tiles with inscriptions and historical image documents are shown.
