Schiller House (Mannheim)

The Schiller House in Mannheim

The Schillerhaus is a baroque house in Mannheim that is reminiscent of Friedrich Schiller's time in Mannheim .

Schiller lived in various houses during his time in Mannheim (1783–1785). His last apartment was probably in the "Hölzelschen Haus" (B 5, 8), which is no longer there. The neighboring house B 5, 7, which is one of the few examples in Mannheim that has been preserved in its baroque state with a garden house, reflects the life of the young Schiller.

Behind the three-story residential building with a side wing is a courtyard with a small, two-story rear building. This house has been used as a museum for Schiller's Mannheim years with an audio-visual exhibition and as a literary forum ( Museum Schillerhaus ) since 2005 as part of the Reiss-Engelhorn Museum .
