The Camargue Museum is a regional museum located in Mas du Pont-de-Rousty , about 10 km from Arles on the departmental road 570 towards Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer .

In 1973, the Camargue Regional Nature Park Foundation (French: Fondation du Parc naturel régional de Camargue) acquired the area around Mas du Pont-de-Rousty for a museum dedicated to the Camargue nature reserve in southern France .

The museum traces the evolution of human activities in the Rhône Delta . A 3.5 km long footpath was laid out in order to bring the natural facets of the Camargue to life, in addition to cultivation, pastures and swamps.

The museum was named European Museum of the Year in 1979 for its concept .
