Museum of the Opole Village
The Muzeum Wsi Opolskiej , translated " Museum of the Opole Village ", is an open-air museum in Opole ( Opole in Poland ). Several rural buildings from all over the Opole Voivodeship , i.e. the western half of Upper Silesia and the south-east of Central Silesia , have been brought together in the museum .
The open-air museum was built between 1961 and 1970 and opened to visitors on September 23, 1970.
The park in the Opole district of Bierkowice (Birkowitz) has an area of ten hectares. The erected buildings include ten farms from the regions around Olesno (Rosenberg OS), Opole and Nysa (Neisse) as well as a church, a school, a tower, a restaurant, a forge, various wayside shrines and two windmills. The buildings on display date from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century. There are also various vegetable and flower gardens from that time.
