Museum of Life Stories
The Museum of Life Stories documents the biographies and achievements of personalities from the Swiss canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden as well as from the region. It is located in the memory location .
In special exhibitions and publications, the museum shows the lives of artists, writers and pioneers from business and culture. But also using the example of simple people you can learn what the external circumstances were like under which people used to live and work. These memories enrich and expand the view of relationships and developments up to the present.
Exhibitions, readings, lectures, music and film presentations, discussions, storytelling and other activities are offered in a multi-layered program that has an internal and external effect.
The museum is integrated into the old age, residential and care center Hof Speicher.
In addition to exhibitions and events, the museum also promotes oral tradition ( oral history ). The sponsorship of the museum is the Association for Life Stories.
In 2009, the museum received the second highest distinction (Special Commendation) at the European Museum of the Year Award .
