The Museum for Historical Defense Technology e. V. (hereinafter referred to as the Defense Technology Museum ) is a museum in the district of Nürnberger Land .

History of the museum

After the establishment of a non-profit sponsoring association in February 1983, the first permanent exhibition was set up in June 1984 on the premises of the Diehl Foundation's semi-finished products plant in Röthenbach an der Pegnitz . While the exhibits were housed in a single building at the time, the exhibition area has been expanded in recent years by three more buildings and a large outdoor area to currently over 1000 m² (as of 2006).

Purpose of the museum

The defense technology museum serves to educate and document the military technological progress of the 19th and 20th centuries. Regardless of the reasons for armed conflicts, the technology of offensive weapons and defense options should be considered. In addition, the Defense Technology Museum is dedicated to the repair and maintenance of historical equipment and vehicles and also offers help with the identification of military-historical objects.

Permanent exhibitions

The focus of the permanent exhibitions is on the presentation of the history of war technology of the 19th and 20th centuries.

On the outside, the Defense Technology Museum exhibits field howitzers , anti-aircraft cannons and other artillery pieces from the Second World War .
