Bernhard Adalbert Emil Koehne

Bernhard Adalbert Emil Koehne (born February 12, 1848 in Sasterhausen near Striegau , † October 12, 1918 in Berlin ) was a Silesian , Prussian- German botanist and teacher. Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Koehne ".

life and work

One of his works is the German Dendrology , written in 1893 (Stuttgart, 601 pages). For the plant kingdom of Adolf Engler in 1903 he wrote the "Lythraceae" chapter; For the joint effort The Natural Plant Families by Engler and Carl Prantl , he contributed Chapter 7 “Lythraceae” to Volume III, as well as the chapter of the same name for Volume XIII of the Flora brasiliensis by Karl Friedrich Philipp von Martius .

Honors

In 1892 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

The plant genera Koehneola Urb. from the sunflower family (Asteraceae), Koehneago Kuntze from the red family (Rubiaceae) and Koehneria S.A. Graham , Tobe & Baas from the loosestrife family (Lythraceae) is named after him.
