The Museum im Ballhaus (MiB) is located in Imst . As a city museum, it documents the city's history and culture.

building

The building dates from the 16th century and was first mentioned in a document in 1530. It was restored as close as possible to its original state and reopened in 2003. The name of the museum is derived from its original use as a storage building for bales of fabric.

exhibition

The exhibits range from the urn field culture to medieval guild history and contemporary art. The museum also owns the Ursuline nativity scene from 1790. The clad nativity scene shows figures with precious robes and embroidery. With 237 figures and over 5 m background paintings, it is the largest nativity scene in Tyrol .
