Museum of Childhood (Edinburgh)
The Museum of Childhood is a museum for children's toys and toys and is located on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh , Scotland . It opened in 1955 and was the first museum in the world to specialize in the history of human childhood .
The collection, with exhibits spanning the 18th to the 21st century, was originally the work of Patrick Murray, an Edinburgh councilor and avid collector of toys and childhood memorabilia .
The museum is located in the building of the former Salvation Army's hall on the Royal Mile and has over 250,000 visitors annually. Entry is free.
