The Museum of original figurines ( MooF / Moof for short ; also Musée de la Bande dessinée et des Figurines ) is a Belgian comic museum that specializes primarily in comic characters. It is located in the Horta gallery in the center of Brussels .
description
1200 figures and other objects are exhibited on 1200 m² in the Moof, which together make up a collection of 3500 items.
You can see many objects by European comic book heroes such as Tintin , Spirou and Fantasio , Blake and Mortimer , the Smurfs , but also American comics.
A large part of the museum was realized by young artists and students from Brussels.
In the square in front of the Horta Gallery , where the museum is located in the basement, a statue of a Smurf was to be found until January 2016. However, vandalism made repairs necessary for 600 hours.
history
Paul Tasiaux was a collector of everything to do with comics. His wish was to open a museum in which comics and the characters to be seen in them are exhibited. Éric Pierre managed to achieve this with the help of Dominique de Rudder.
Initially the collection was exhibited in a small restaurant in Wavre . The museum opened on May 14, 2009 on 3000 m² in the Brussels suburb of Schaerbeek . Three years later the museum moved to the Horta Gallery .
