Museum of the Moving Image (London)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Museum of the Moving Image ( Engl. For "Museum of the moving image ", abbreviation: MOMI) in London was a museum for the media and social history of film , television , video , animation and their technical precursors.

MOMI was founded with mostly private endowment funds and was operated by the British Film Institute from 1988 to 1999 in a building on the south bank of the Thames by architects Avery Associates . It was considered innovative in concept and equipment and not only had advanced technical facilities for interactive engagement with the exhibited media, but also had its own group of actors who demonstrated its objects to visitors to the museum and its events.

The MOMI building has been redesigned and has been the entrance complex for the BFI Southbank since it reopened on March 14, 2007 .
